The Seal of Biliteracy recognizes learners’ proficiency in English and another language. Started as a grassroots movement, Seal programs have now been approved or entered planning stages in all 50 states. This session will provide a brief update on the Seal’s growing success and will explore the newly updated “Guidelines for Implementing the Seal of Biliteracy,” including the implications of these guidelines in empowering K-20 students and programs. It will also suggest how language advocates can help to create awareness and promote future growth toward an equitable, accessible implementation of the Seal nationwide.
